Ender's Game Movie

Has anyone else read Orson Scott Card's genius novel Ender's Game? For those of you who have, then it's not necessary for me to describe how insanely amazing it is. Going on the assumption that we're all in agreement that it would make an awesome movie, here's the million dollar question: why isn't it a movie yet?

They've had problems getting a good script. They cast actors, then fiddle around for a few years until the child actors are too old to play Ender. If some film company were to actually make a movie version that was as good as the book version, the sales would be astronomical. I guarantee you that every person who has read Ender's Game would go see it, and it would probably win an Oscar or two, even if just for the fantastic plot.

So why isn't anyone making an Ender's Game movie? It boggles my mind that they waste money on mindless, formulaic comedies that are basically guaranteed from day one to bomb at the box office, when such an amazing book is just begging to be turned into a blockbuster.

I see two options here: 1) Find a pregnant woman who is part of a well-established acting lineage, e.g., a Barrymore, and designate her unborn child as the future 'Ender". By the time the screenplay is written AND approved, the child will be the right age. 2) Write the screenplay yourself, and send it to the popwers-that-be. You have the passion.
